Tasting Notes
Château Clarke's 2018 vintage honors the 40th anniversary of the winery's first bottling under the Rothschild family's ownership. In 1973, Baron Edmond de Rothschild purchased the estate and intentionally replanted and renovated it to become the Bordeaux standard that it is today.
It is a wine of great quality, with a deep purple color and great tension in the mouth. This is without a doubt one of the best vintages Clarke has ever produced. The wine opens beautifully in the glass with juicy, lush, vibrant black cherry aromas and fine, well-balanced tannins. The structural impact of the wine is perfectly matched by the black currant and blueberry fruit. There is of course the influence of new oak, but it strengthens the wine and offers a smoky, balsamic complexity. This is a modern, elegant vintage of Chateau Clarke that will age effortlessly for a few decades in magnum. Decant 1 hour before serving.
